Equity Council Committee

The Equity Council Committee (ECC) monitors and analyzes equity issues, advises the school board, and advocates for achievement by all students. We are champions for all children regardless of their background and circumstances, and we represent the equity conscience of the community. Five committee members are appointed by the school board and six are elected by the seated committee.

Board-appointed members: Allison Ellis (appointed by board Chair Tyler Murphy), Rania Belmadani (by Vice Chair Amy Green), Trace Williams (by board member Penny Christian), Scott Horn (by board member Monica Mundy), and Norma Justice (by board member Amanda Ferguson)

Council-elected members, serving through 2027: Camisha Boyd-Powell, Shiretha Chantal, Calizza Farrell, Jeanette Hart, Ryessia Russell, and Emmanuel Smith 

Meetings

The ECC gathers at 6:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month, with exceptions for holidays, school breaks, and other calendar conflicts. You can watch the livestream at home or attend at the John D. Price Administration Building, and community input is welcome in Conference Room 150. You can also observe the virtual planning sessions via Google Meet on the third Tuesday. Check the FCPS calendar to confirm all the dates and times.

Applications are due by the last business day in October of odd-numbered years. Membership elections follow during the regular ECC meeting in December.
