Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books is a longstanding national reading incentive program. A voluntary initiative designed to encourage deep reading in diverse subjects, it has had strong support in Fayette County middle and elementary schools for several years.
Sponsors from participating schools select titles to include on lists for the local competition. Students begin reading from the lists in August, and teams compete in a series of contests in the spring. After the finals at the district office, the winning teams from each level take home a much-coveted trophy.
Check with your school's librarian for this year's reading list.
