Mr. Michael Spaeth
Mr. Spaeth is entering his ninth year teaching 7th and 8th grade social studies at SCAPA. During that time he has advised groups for Kentucky Youth Assembly, Kentucky United Nations Assembly, national grand prize winners in C-SPAN’s StudentCam video competition and two first place winners in the Kentucky STLP documentary video competition. He is also the coordinator of SCAPA’s Student Technology Leadership Program.
Before SCAPA, Mr. Spaeth taught for five years in Arizona and worked for two years in his home state of Illinois as a paraeducator. He has coached football and basketball at the middle school and high school levels and worked as a tutor for the Clemson University athletic department. 2016 was an excellent year for Mr. Spaeth as his Clemson Tigers won their first national championship in football since 1981 and his beloved Chicago Cubs won the World Series for the first time in 108 years. In his free time, Mr. Spaeth likes to play and watch basketball, go hiking, and watch movies. He is looking forward to working with a new group of 7th graders and finding out what his 8th graders have in store for him this year.
