Students can access thousands of eBooks, specialized digital collections, and informational databases right from their Chromebooks via our website and Destiny Discover catalog.
The main Fiction collection, including Graphic Novels and Manga can be found in the main Library Media Center. Middle school fiction can be found in the Carter G. Woodson Academy.
Informational texts, biographies, and other non-fiction reference can be found in specialized collections in each Academy.
Locations, Labs, & Collaborative Spaces:
The Douglass High School Library consists of the main Library Media Center (E209) centrally located in the upper hall, overlooking the Cafeteria.
Five additional distributed media hubs are located in each of the Academy wings, including a specialized hub area for Carter G. Woodson Academy.
The main Library Media Center is equipped with an AV production studio, control room, and digital editing lab. These spaces may be reserved when not in use by our Cinematography classes.
In additon, the Library Media Center houses a flexible conference room/maker space studio for small group collaboration. These may be reserved via Calendly.
Students and staff may access the Library's eResources 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
The main Library Media Center is open from 7:55 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. M-F when school is in session. The library is closed during 3rd lunch M-F unless there is a scheduled teaching/learning collaboration in progress.

Library Mission & Vision
The Frederick Douglass Library program provides space for collaboration, critical & creative thinking, and academic inquiry. Through our print collection, e-resources, FDHSMaker HQ, and staff we support, encourage, and enhance depth of learning so that our students are prepared to excel as members of a global society.
