• Basketball Program Information

    Pre-season open gyms/conditioning will take place for each grade level before tryouts. All students must have a current KHSAA physical to participate in these activities. These activities are not required for students to attend before tryouts. Event dates will be posted on the SMS website, in the school building, and will be given in announcements. 

    Tryouts begin December 12, 2022.

    Games will begin immediately following the final tryout date. The team will practice and play games during Winter Break. Our Fayette Co./Conference schedule begins January 19th, but there will be many non-conference games (and tournaments) before that date and during the season. The Fayette Co. championship game is on March 8, 2023.

    Academic expectations: All students are expected to maintain a 2.0 GPA or a 70% (or higher) cumulative class average in order to be eligible for tryouts and play during the season.

    The basketball program will follow the health and safety guidelines given by FCPS for all activities and games. The schedule above is based upon a non-pandemic set of circumstances. Dates and events could change.
