Can I drop the class? When can I drop the class? How do I drop the class?
Yes, you can drop your dual credit class. A student can drop the dual credit class completely or remain in the class for high school credit and drop the college credit part of the class.
You can drop the class up to the deadline of each semester. See your Academic Calendar for the class.
There is a deadline to drop without receiving a W on your college transcript and then there is a deadline to drop the class and receive a W on your transcript. Those dates will be posted in your dual credit class syllabus. A W means withdrawing from the college course. This happens when a student is not passing the class and does not want to receive a failing grade for the college credit. If a student does not withdraw from the class and fails the class, this will be reflected on the college transcript.
A student may withdraw from the college credit and remain in the class to receive high school credit upon passing the class. Once the student withdraws from the college portion of the class, even if they pass the high school portion, they WILL NOT receive college credit.
If you decide you want to drop or withdraw the dual credit class, you need to do the following:
1. Talk with your teacher about why you want to drop the class. Do you want to remain in the class for high school credits only or do you want to completely drop the class?
2. Talk with your guidance counselor about your decision as it may impact your class schedule.
3. Your guidance counselor will email the College and Career Coach, Ms. Bates: pamela.bates@fayette.kyschools.us and you will receive an email about how to drop the college portion of the class.
4. Complete the process, Ms. Bates provides you.

Will my dual credit class credits transfer?
Dual Credit classes do transfer to most Kentucky Colleges/Universities. Out of State colleges/universities accept dual credit classes either as the General Education course or as an elective course. To be sure, you should also check with the colleges/universities you are applying to. They have Transfer Equivalency pages on their website.
Eastern Ky University: Transfer Credits
Western Ky University: Transfer Credits
BCTC :Transfer Credits
Midway: Transfer Credits
Campbellsville: Transfer Credits
When meeting with Admissions Counselors from the college/university, you should ask about dual credit transfer.
We selected the courses and the universities we use for dual credit because of the simplicity of transfer credits and the academic integrity of the courses.
