Bus Dismissal

    • All families who can transport their children home from school are strongly encouraged to do so to help reduce the number of students on each bus.
    • Buses will be dismissed one at a time, to ensure Healthy at School guidelines are being met.
    • Teachers will display the bus dismissal document on their screens in the classroom.
    • Students will remain seated in their class until their bus is called.
    • Students will wear masks and walk directly down the designated one-way hallways, out the front door, and board their bus.
    • Hand sanitizer will be provided as students enter and exit the bus.
    • All students K-12 and staff are required to wear a mask on the bus at all times, with the exception of those who have a medical or ARC-directed exemption. Detailed mask guidance and protocols are provided in Appendix B.
    • Students who have a medical exemption for wearing a mask will be assigned seating at the front of the bus.
    • Bus monitors will document student seat numbers on the bus manifest so that seating charts can be created if needed. Bus drivers will record student seat numbers as students exit the bus.
    • Buses will be loaded from the back to the front, and unloaded from the front to the back.
    • Buses will be sanitized between routes and at the end of the day.
    • See “Safe on the Bus, Safe at the Garage” (Appendix G) for additional details and staff expectations.

Car Riders

    • Car riders will be dismissed after the first bus is called by grade level.
    • Students must wear their mask, walk down designated one-way hallways, to the rear of the building.
    • Students must exit the building and look for their vehicle.
    • If the student does not see their vehicle they must stand on a designated “C” painted on the sidewalk and covered area.
    • Students may not congregate with other students and must remain on their designated spot.
    • Handsanitizer will be available at the exit doors for student use.

Walkers

    • Once bus riders and car riders have been dismissed, walkers will be dismissed by grade level.
    • Students must wear their mask, walk down designated one-way hallways, to their exit.
    • Walkers will exit out of the front or back doors, whichever is closest to their path home.
    • Students may not congregate with other students and must maintain social distancing.
    • Handsanitizer will be available at the exit doors for student use.
