Fayette County Public Schools has partnered with the city of Lexington, HealthFirst Bluegrass, the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department, and Wild Health to offer the vaccine at district school locations during July. There is no cost, and each site is open to anyone regardless of school enrollment, attendance, or residence.
In partnership with the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department, FCPS offers rapid testing to students and employees who exhibit common COVID-19 symptoms at school. The tests are administered by school nurses and other trained staff in the school first aid room only after gaining permission from a student's parent or guardian, in the presence of a family-designated adult. "This is about early detection so we can shut down the possibility of spread and keep our schools open," said FCPS Health Services Coordinator Debbie Boian.
