Dear Harrison Families,
Welcome back! Everyone at Harrison Elementary School is excited to see our students and families again. Whether from a distance or in-person, we are grateful to be back to work with our amazing Harrison Achievers. This unusual time in our history has lasted much longer than we could have anticipated and has taught us the valuable lesson that together, we can achieve so much more than we ever could alone. Your support in last spring’s NTI learning format helped us reach an amazing 89.7% participation rate. That accomplishment proves that by working together, NTI2DL at Harrison will be a successful way to return to school.
We have been hard at work preparing for NTI2DL, or “Non-Traditional Differentiated Distance Learning” to begin on August 26, 2020. NTI has been totally reimagined in Fayette County and the teachers at the Promise Academy at Harrison Elementary are excited to offer a full day of learning and enrichment for our students, engaging virtual classrooms, and new technology to help monitor student progress. To learn all about the plans we have made and get class placements, class schedules, and materials for distance learning, please plan to attend our NTI2DL Drive-thru Orientation on Thursday, August 20th from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Our event takes place in the car rider lane at Harrison Elementary (enter only from Jefferson Street). Students will see their teacher and other school staff from the safety of their vehicle. The health and safety of our stakeholders is our number one priority and we will adhere to our COVID19 Safety Plan during this event. Staff and stakeholders must wear cloth masks and maintain social distancing during this event. Families will remain in their vehicles.
Two alternative pick up times are available for families including: Friday morning, August 21 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. or on Monday afternoon, August 24th from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Materials distribution during these times will be held under the overhang. All staff and stakeholders must wear cloth masks and maintain social distancing during the walk-up materials collection. If neither of these times work, please contact Ms. Keshaun Huffman, our Family Resource and Youth Service Center Coordinator, or Ms. Liz Jackson, our registrar to schedule an appointment for pick up on Tuesday, August 25th from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
