August 26 is our first day of virtual learning!  Please see the document below for more information about our virtual schedule.

James Lane Allen Elementary and FCPS are starting back to school online. What this means for JLA
students is that teachers and staff will be working with students through their Google Classroom and
ZOOM meetings. Students will use their Chromebooks to connect with their teachers Monday through
Thursday, following a virtual schedule online. On Fridays, students will connect as needed with their
teachers. Fridays will be a day where teachers might do follow-up work with small groups or work
one-on-one. Fridays will be a flexible day where Monday through Thursday will follow a set schedule.

In our schedule there are different types of interactions that students will have with their teachers and
classwork.

● There will be live times where students will meet with their teacher either in a ZOOM meeting or
Google Meet session. These live sessions could be in a whole group, small group or individual
setting.
● There will be recorded or independent work times. During an independent time students might
have work that is assigned to them by the teacher. If it is a recorded time students have some
flexibility as to when they watch this but it is still part of their work. Students will have specific
directions from their teachers about this work.

Live time for Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students will be Monday through Thursday from 9:00
a.m. - 12:00 p.m. They will have a Lunch/Recess/Movement Break from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Live time for 4th and 5th grade students is similar to K-3 with the exception that their Arts & Humanities
will be in the morning time and their Science/Social Studies time will be after the Lunch, Recess and
Movement Break from 12:45 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.

For K-3, part of the afternoon time will consist of 30 minutes for Arts & Humanities/Special Area Classes
(Art, Library, Music, P.E. and STEM). This time will be a combination of recorded and live time, which
will help provide flexibility in the afternoon schedule for students.

The afternoon time for all students will also include time to do Imagine Learning, an online program for
Reading and Math. Students will be expected to use Imagine Learning for at least an hour a week in
Reading and an hour a week in Math. Students will also be able to do independent work in the afternoon
and some students might work with staff in small groups in the afternoon.
The school day will end at 2:45 p.m. but students will have access to the recorded and independent work
in Google Classroom.

Los estudiantes de James Lane Allen Elementary y FCPS empezará el año escolar en línea. Para los
estudiantes de JLA significa que los maestros/maestras y el personal de la escuela trabajarán con
estudiantes por los sitios de Google Classroom y Zoom. Los estudiantes usarán su Chromebook
conectar con sus maestros/maestras lunes-jueves, y seguirán un horario virtual. Los viernes, los
estudiantes conectarán con sus maestros/maestras solo si necesitan. Los viernes serán unos días
cuando los maestros//maestras pueden conectar con los grupos pequeños o trabajar con los estudiantes
individualmente. Los viernes serán unos días flexibles, mientras los días lunes-jueves seguirán un
horario fijo.

En nuestro horario hay varios tipos de interacciones que los estudiantes tendrán con sus
maestros/maestras y sus tareas.

● Serán tiempos en vivos cuando los estudiantes se juntarán con su maestro/maestra por ZOOM
o Google Meet. Estas sesiones en vivo podrían ser todo del grupo, grupo pequeño, o una junta
individual.

● Serán tiempos grabados o independientes. Durante un tiempo de trabajo independiente los
estudiantes quizás tendrían tarea que el maestro/maestra dió. Si es un tiempo grabado, los
estudiantes tendrán flexibilidad, como cuando puede mirar su lección, pero es necesario porque
es parte de su trabajo. Los estudiantes tendrán instrucciones específicas de su maestro/maestra
sobre este tipo de trabajo.

Las horas de estar en vivo para los estudiantes de Kindergarten, 1o, 2o, y 3o grado serán lunes a jueves
de las 9:00 de la mañana-12:00 de la tarde. Harán un descanso de Almuerzo/Recreo/Movimiento de las
12:00 de la tarde-12:45 de la tarde.
Las horas de estar en vivo para los estudiantes de los grados de 4o-5o es similar al horario de
Kindergarten-3o grado, con la excepción tendrán sus clases de Artes y Humanidades en la mañana y
sus clases de Ciencias/Estudios Sociales después del descanso de Almuerzo/Recreo/Movimiento de las
horas de 12:45 de la tarde-1:15 de la tarde.
Para los estudiantes de Kindergarten-3o, parte de la tarde será sus clases (30 minutos) de Artes y
Humanidades/Áreas especiales (Arte, Biblioteca, Música, Educación Física, y STEM). Este tiempo será
una combinación de tiempo grabado y en vivo, este método proveerá flexibilidad en el horario de la tarde
para los estudiantes.

Para todos los estudiantes, el tiempo de la tarde incluirá Imagine Learning, un programa en línea que
enfoca en los sujetos de Lectura y Matemáticas. Es nuestra expectativa que los estudiantes harán el
programa de Imagine Learning por lo menos una hora cada semana en la Lectura y una hora en
Matemáticas. Los estudiantes podrían hacer su trabajo independiente en la tarde y algunos estudiantes
quizás trabajarán con el personal de la escuela en grupos pequeños en la tarde.
El día escolar terminará a las 2:45 de la tarde pero los estudiantes tendrán acceso a su trabajo grabado
e independiente por Google Classroom.
