Chromebook Charger Purchase: Scholars are responsible for their charger at all times. Scholars who do not have a charger at the end of the school year will be assessed a fee, regardless of the reason. New chargers can be purchased on Amazon.com (click for link) or other online websites. Sixth graders with the HP 11" G6 chromebooks will go to this link to purchase a charger.
No Internet Access?
For our families who may have “No Access” to technology, the following will be done to continue instruction:
- Parents can pick up work from the school between designated times, request that it be mailed, dropped off via a home visit or a determined central location or scanned to a parent’s work email address. Please call the school if you will need this service.
- Scholars with no access will be provided with various options to obtain the work as listed above.
- If possible, Spectrum is offering free wifi for 60 days. To enroll in Charter’s free-broadband program, eligible consumers must call (844) 488-8395. The company said it will waive installation fees for new student households. Charter said it will partner with school districts “to ensure local communities are aware of these tools to help students learn remotely.” In addition, the operator will open its Wi-Fi hotspots across its footprint for public use, free of charge. Spectrum also has an offer for low-income families year-round.
- We have been in contact with both Spectrum and Windstream and both are offering free internet for two months. If you call 1-800-Spectrum or (859)514-1400, you will be calling Spectrum. All you have to say is you have a student in the Lexington, Kentucky Area and are interested in free internet to continue instruction and the agents will know what to do. Windstream is 1-800-347-1991. Basically the same deal but the way Windstream is offering is a little different. They are waiving the installation fee and giving families a $100 credit. Their services are cheaper at $32 a month (Spectrum 49.99 per month for 12 months), and the $100 should cover the full first two months with taxes etc., and most of the third.
