  • Read Across America Celebration

    In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday on Friday, March 2nd and Reading, we will have a week of celebratation for Read Across America.  Students will be able to participate in a dress up week.

    Monday, Feb 26th is wear Red & White Day.

    Tuesday, Feb 27th is Twin Day - wear the same clothes with a friend or dress as your favorite teacher.

    Wednesday, Feb 28th is Backwards/Inside Out Day. 

    Thursday, March 1st is dress as your favorite book character.

    Friday, March 2nd is Crazy Hat or Crazy Hair Day!

    All teachers are being asked to spend time with reading activities during this week.

  • Dream Lex

    A youth talent show will be held at the Lyric Theatre and Cultural Arts Center on Friday, May 11 at 7 pm.  Tickets will be Pay What You Can.  All proceeds will benefit youth organizations in Lexington.  Dream Lex will be open to middle and high school students.  There will be cash prizes up to $500 and many more prizes.  Auditions will be held on Saturday, March 17 at various locations and times.  You may choose to auditions at Central Music Academy, The Learning Center, Carver Center, Northside Library, Eastside Library, and Village Library.  Deadline to apply to audition is Friday, March 2nd.  Students may showcase their talent in:  Vocal Performance, Instrumental Performance, Solo Dance, Group Dance, Band, Comedy, Theatrical, Poetry/Prose Recitation & Spoken Word, & Variety.  Sign up to audition here!

  • Help Our Music Programs

    Our Spring Fundraiser continues and is for Yankee Candles. You can also order online at using the ID #990030577.  Orders are due Thursday, March 1st and items are expected to arrive before Spring Break.  As always, we appreciate any and all help; donations are always welcome in lieu of participation in fundraisers.  The fundraiser goes to help with assessment fees, busses, and music pieces for students.  Money is also needed for instruments and repairs.

  • E Day 

    E Day will be at University of Kentucky, Lexington Campus Saturday, February 24·9 am to 1 pm -- Engineers Day is open to any and all elementary, middle and high school students and their families interested in learning more about the exciting things engineers and computer scientists do. Whether you are a first grader or a high school senior, there will be something to amaze, inform and delight you at the UK College of Engineering. Even grown-ups will find something entertaining. Free Admission! Free Parking! Free Activities! Prizes!

  • Barnes & Noble Favorite Teacher Contest

    My Favorite Teacher Contest:  From now until Mar. 2, middle and high school students can submit an essay, poem, or thank-you letter sharing how a teacher has influenced their life and why they admire them. The winning teacher and student author of the chosen entry will receive prizes and certificates from your local B&N.   • Scholastic Book Fair is Coming!

    BSMS will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair in the Library Media Center March 12th - 16th.  There are awesome new books out for the spring and summer!  Come and get new books for travelling over Spring Break and finish the year strong with some good books for independent reading goals.  Here is a link to our Scholastic Book Fair web site

  • 2018 KET Young Writers Contest is OPEN!

    Students in sixth through eighth grades can submit their poetry. These can be pieces written throughout the school year either at home or at school.  The deadline to enter is March 30th, 2018.   You can find the official rules, online entry form, and past winners at

  • Congratulations to BSHS Swim Team

    Congratulate Hadley Garrard, Crosby Nathaniel, Jade Stoner and Isaac Meek for representing our team at the high school regional meet this past weekend.  Issac was awarded with 7th place in the 200 freestyle relay along with his team members.  Crosby Nathaniel, awarded with 9th place in the 200 medley relay, swimming backstroke, and also individually placed 16th in the 500 freestyle and setting a personal best time.  Jade Stoner and Hadley Garrard were each awarded with 11th in the 200 medley relay and 10th in the 200 freestyle relay. Hadley Garrard also individually swam the 50 freestyle setting a personal best time and achieving 15th place.  Way to go Bearcats!  We are proud of you!!!

  • Kids CAN Hunger

    BSMS is collecting can food for the Kids CAN Hunger 2018 until March 29th.  We have collection tubs in the front foyer.  This is sponsored by Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky! The winning school in each division based on enrollment will be awarded $500!

    Please send in as much can food as possible.  The rules state bottled or gallon size water, #10 cans or bulk beans and rice will NOT BE COUNTED towards our final pound total.  However, we are still allowed to donate these items to help those in need.  It just will not count towards our total weight.

    You CAN donate cash or ONLINE by selecting your school, $10 donated = 100 lbs of food. The school with the most pounds (=food + converted CASH donations) will win in each division which are based on enrollment numbers. The link to donate is - select our  school. Cash donations can be given to Mrs. Brewer in the Media Center.

  • 5K Club

    5K Club will start meeting on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays.  You must have a permission slip signed by your parents to join.  See Ms. Ratcliff for forms.

  • Track & Field

    Parents with students interested in track and field are invited to a parent meeting on March 1st, 2018 at 6pm in the Bryan Station Middle School Library. Parents need to bring the students sports physical form that is good until June 2018.     BSMS had three students audition for the CKYO Jazz Repertory orchestra and all three were accepted!!!  Way to go Bearcats!!!!!!

    Parents may check your child's Accelerated Reader account by using Home Connect. Email Melissa Brewer for your child's log-on information.  Students and parents may check the database to see which books are AR. The database currently holds over 200,000 AR tests.

    Box Tops for Education - Our school is collecting “Box Tops for Education” as a fundraiser.  Box Tops can be found on General Mills products, including Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Green Giant, Yoplait, Progresso, Old El Paso, Pop Secret, Ziploc, Nature Valley, and many others. Box Tops can be sent to the library or placed in Mrs. Brewer's mailbox throughout the year.

    We will have special drawings for great prizes throughout the year.

    The Girls Who Code club will meet on Monday.

  • Tutoring Available

    • Mr. Dicks will be available every morning from 8:00 am - 8:35 for tutoring in his room.
    • Mrs. Wallace will be available for any class/subject area for all 7th graders between 8:15 - 8:55 every morning in 208.
    • Mr. Silimperi will be available before school to help with math.
    • Ms. Frantz will be available Thursday's until 5pm for band.
    • Spanish Immersion Tutoring is in the library after school on Wednesday from 4 - 5 pm.
    • Mrs. Robinson is available any afternoon until 4:45 pm for her classes.
    • Please check with your specific teachers as they usually have tutoring before or after school.

    Live Homework Help - Go to for the direct link or go to and  click on "Teens" or "Kids", then look for "Live Homework Help".  Spanish speaking tutors are available from 2-10 pm for science, math, and social studies.  English speaking tutors are available for even more subjects and more hours.   Tutors are available for Kindergarten through adults. also has a paid service but going through the library is free with a library card.
