School Announcements

  • Bearcats Give Back Program

    Please help those in need!  This is a grade level competition to give back to our surrounding neighborhoods and communities.  Each grade level will have various items to be donated to the school. Items will be collected from November 28th - December 14th.  Classes will win prizes based on their donations and volunteer work.

    Grade Level donations

    6th- Toiletries (toothpaste, deodorant, lotion, shampoo, etc.; travel size items acceptable)

    7th- Canned Foods/non-perishable food items (items that are not expired)

    8th- New winter accessories (socks, hats, gloves, scarves, etc.; can include children’s and adult sizes)

  • Thanksgiving Meal

    Our Thanksgiving lunch will be Thursday, Novmeber 15th this year.

    The menu is Oven Roasted Turkey, Baked Ham with Pineapple Glaze, Cornbread Stuffing, Rolls, Whipped Potatoes, Green Beans, Candied Sweet Potato Casserole, Tossed Salad, Applesauce, Cranberry Sauce, & Frozen Yogurt. 

    Adult meal is $4.75.  WHAT A DEAL!  Come and eat with your child!!!

  • Scholastic Book Fair

    Our Scholastic Book Fair will be November 26th - November 30th.  We will have a parent night with Comic Con on Tuesday, November 27th (5:30 -7:00 pm) and our Internet Safety Night on Wednesday, November 28th (6pm - 7 pm).   Please look at our Scholastic website for more information.

  • Comic Con

    BSMS Comic Con is coming soon!!!  Please join us on Tuesday, November 27th from 5:30 - 7 pm.  Students are allowed to wear costumes (Superhero or book character costumes - No masks please).  We will start the night with our school spelling bee on stage in the gym.  There will be different activiites for students to participate including origami, trivia, and anime.  There will be cookies and drinks in the Media Center.  The Scholastic book fair will be in the Media Center.  We will end the night with a costume contest with a prize. Hope to see you there!!!

  • Internet Safety Night

    Please join us for a parent night featuring Detective Anthony Young of the Lexington Police Department, Internet Crimes Against Children on November 28th at 6 pm in the BSMS Media Center.  We have extended the invitation to all of our elementary schools in our feeder pattern to please join us for important information that can protect your child from internet crimes.  Light refreshments will be served.

  • Barnes & Noble Book Fair

    Please join us on Saturday, December 1st from 10 am - 2 pm for our annual Barnes & Noble Book Fair.  We will have student performances throughout featuring our jazz band, choir, and orchestra students.  If students are interested in performing please see Mrs. Brewer.  We are looking for students to sing, dance, and do presentations that are of interest to them.

  • Congratulations Enrique Thompson!

    Enrique passed his Board Of Review for Eagle Scout!  This is the highest rank in Boys Scout Of America. He has worked very hard over the years with community service (Street clean up, feeding the homeless etc..), leadership classes, mentoring and summer camps, earning merit badges, & learning how to be a good citizen.  Way to go Bearcat!!

  • Congratulations Fabio!!!

    Fabio Tuduri has been selected to represent the US in an All-Star Soccer Team Trip to Barcelona, Spain next week.  This is an invite only experience for him and his family where only the best players attend the International Soccer Tournament.  He will learn what it will take to become a professional soccer player so he can delevelop realistic dreams and goals during his trip.  He has been working on this since he was 4 years old.  We are very excited for you Fabio!! Congratulations!!!

  • Student Spotlight

    7th grader, CJ Zornoza, is in the new Netflix film "Sierra Burgess is a Loser". He plays the Deaf younger brother of one of the main characters and  is in two scenes with a few lines.  It is exciting to see him in it.  He looks much younger than he does now as it was filmed 2 years ago.  Congratulations!

    Box Tops for Education - Our school is collecting “Box Tops for Education” as a fundraiser.  Box Tops can be found on General Mills products, including Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Green Giant, Yoplait, Progresso, Old El Paso, Pop Secret, Ziploc, Nature Valley, and many others. Box Tops can be sent to the library or placed in Mrs. Brewer's mailbox throughout the year.  Help our school earn more money with the Box Top app.  Box Top App Instructions

    Individual teachers hold thier own tutoring hours.  ESS Services are also available.

    Live Homework Help - Go to for the direct link or go to and  click on "Teens" or "Kids", then look for "Live Homework Help".  Spanish speaking tutors are available from 2-10 pm for science, math, and social studies.  English speaking tutors are available for even more subjects and more hours.   Tutors are available for Kindergarten through adults. also has a paid service but going through the library is free with a library card.
