The ABC's of STEAM Academy
Advisory—Every STEAM student is assigned to a group within their grade level as their Advisory group. Students check in each morning with their advisory teacher for attendance and announcements. In addition, beginning September 7th, students will meet in Advisory groups for 45 minutes after 2nd block. This time is used to extend student learning beyond regular courses and provides a home base for students. Parents should consider Advisory teachers as the go to contact person for questions concerning their student.
AUP (Acceptable Use Policy)—STEAM students and parents sign the Acceptable Use Policy they enter STEAM Academy
Attendance—STEAM follows guidelines set forth by Fayette County in regards to attendance. Absence and Tardiness policies
Bus Service—Fayette County school bus transportation is provided to and from the home high school each day for STEAM students. Students will arrive each afternoon in time to participate in activities offered at their home high school. The attached schedule provides times and places for each bus provided for STEAM students. Chromebooks—STEAM is proud to be a 1:1 school provided Chromebook school. Every STEAM student is provided a Chromebook to be used at school and at home. For more information, see the 1:1 Chromebook Overview for families.
Canvas—STEAM's Learning Management System (LMS), Canvas is an easy-to-use, cloud-based LMS that connects all the digital tools and resources teachers use into one simple place. Canvas provides students access to their course 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. STEAM course grades are kept in Canvas and parents may access information including resources, assignments, teacher comments, and much more, in cooperation with their student. Dual-Credit Courses—In collaboration with Bluegrass Community & Technical College, STEAM offers a variety of dual credit options for students through the BCTC blue+ program. Qualified students may take course on STEAM's campus or at BCTC.
Grade Reporting—Progress reports are provided two times each semester in addition to final semester grades. Grade Reporting Dates
Infinite Campus—STEAM uses Infinite Campus for daily attendance, progress reporting grades, and semester final grades only. Teacher assigned grades for student assignments, class work, projects, etc will be keep in Canvas. Infinite Campus Parent Portal
Internships—An intergral part of the STEAM program, seniors and juniors may participate in half day internships. Sophomores spend time learning about internship opportunities. More detail are available on the Internship page.
Parking—Visitor parking for STEAM Academy is found in the lot next the school building on East Sixth Street.
PTSA—Do you want to be involved? STEAM's PTSA is a great way for parents, students, teachers, and community to be actively involved in making STEAM Academy great. More information is found on the PTSA page.
Schedules—STEAM runs a 5 block instructional schedule each day. STEAM follows the "regular" schedule on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays students follow an Advisory Schedule. On Advisory days, students meet with their Advisory groups after 2nd block. Note that the set schedules may be altered to accommodate special opportunities for students. Weather related delays may also affect the STEAM schedule. STEAM Advisory Council (STAC)—As a program school, STEAM uses an advisory council consisting of members form various stake holders: administration, teachers, students, parents, district, University of Kentucky, and the community. Find out more on the STAC page.

Traffic Flow (Drop Off/Pick Up)—Because of our positioning in the neighborhood and student safety concerns during morning drop off and afternoon dismissal, STEAM asks all parents to follow the traffic flow plan developed in conjunction with law enforcement.
