Our Advanced Manufacturing program offers an early entry for Fayette County 8th Grade students. We call this the Pre-Engineering Academy and this program provides project-based learning, with a hands-on approach that relates technology to students’ daily lives. It further promotes communication and collaboration by emphasizing a teamwork approach within the instructional units. This approach utilizes the strengths of each team member to accomplish the goals of the project, while offering students learning challenges at all ability levels. Through mathematics, science, and technology integration, students will develop and hone skills that enable them to enter the high school with a foundation of knowledge and skills for success in pre-engineering.
This class is designed to excite and motivate students to use their imaginations and teach them to be creative and innovative, while gaining the skills they need to develop, produce, and use products and services.
This class will consist of the following three units:
- Design and Modeling
- Automation and Robotics
- Energy and the Environment
