Our Family Resource and Youth Service Centers are also available to help with basic necessities. We are especially grateful to the Jenna and Matthew Mitchell Foundation at Blue Grass Community Foundation and The Calipari Foundation for making it possible to support hundreds of families during this unprecedented emergency.

  • A Letter From Ms. Dabney

    April 3, 2020

    Dear Veterans Park Families,

We hope that you all have been enjoying your “staycation” spring break with your families this past week.  I know that the Dabney Household has started our fourth puzzle and read multiple books along with household chores, much to their dismay.  I will say that Wags is wondering when she gets to go back to school as she is missing the action of 800 kids each day and our family of 4 just isn’t as exciting.  To keep all the kids up to date on “What's Wags Doing”, I have created an Instagram “principal_and_pup” for you all to follow her daily activities.

All families should have received a phone call and email from the district letting you know that we will be continuing our NTI (Non-Traditional Instruction) until May 1st.  Starting Monday we will begin day one of NTI and your child’s teacher(s) will be communicating with families and students throughout these days. Please know that we want to support your students while having them continue to grow.  Structure is key during these unsettling times and having a school routine each day at home will be essential.

If you did not check out a Chromebook for your student and you determined that you need one starting April 6th, please contact your child’s teacher and we will work with you to get one to you.  Also, if you are having a login issue we ask that you contact your student’s teacher for assistance. Fayette County also is offering a technology help line to support students and families while at home and they can be reached at 859.381.4410 and are available Monday-Friday from 8am to 5pm.  Please note they will not be available during Spring Break.

With school being taught virtually this next month we are having to cancel many scheduled events.  Please see the weekly “Flash” for updates to events. This is also requiring us to push back SBDM Parent Elections and Kindergarten registration.  We have posted the nomination forms on the VPE website and we will  continue to collect nominations until we are back in school and are able to have an election.  All candidates will be announced via the VPE Flash/Website and biographies will be posted. SBDM Elections will be at a date and time TBD.

Kindergarten and new student registration has also been pushed back and will not be able to happen starting Monday.  However, families are able to complete the online application process at and once we are able to get back into the building we will contact you to get the remaining paperwork.

All the VPE staff is looking forward to waving and seeing our families during our “Patriot Parade” this coming Sunday afternoon starting at 2:00.  Please see the map and routes posted on the VPE website that we will be traveling. Thank you in advance for social distancing while getting to wave as we pass by.

Each Friday, we will continue to update the Flash and send it out with as many updates as we have available to you.  Please look for my letter to be attached weekly and always if you have questions or concerns please email me.

    May everyone stay healthy,

    Molly Dabney

  • Free Internet...

Stamford, CT. – March 13, 2020In the coming weeks, many Americans will be affected either directly or indirectly by COVID-19 and Charter is focused on serving and supporting our 29 million customers. Americans rely on high speed broadband in nearly every aspect of their lives and Charter is committed to ensuring our customers maintain reliable access to the online resources and information they want and need. To ease the strain in this challenging time, beginning Monday, March 16, Charter commits to the following for 60 days:

      • Charter will offer free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription at any service level up to 100 Mbps. To enroll call 1-844-488-8395. Installation fees will be waived for new student households.
      • Charter will partner with school districts to ensure local communities are aware of these tools to help students learn remotely.
      • For eligible low-income households without school-aged children, Charter continues to offer Spectrum Internet Assist, a low-cost broadband program delivering speeds of 30 Mbps
      • Charter will open its Wi-Fi hotspots across our footprint for public use
      • Spectrum does not have data caps or hidden fees.

As the country works collaboratively to contain this pandemic, broadband internet access will be increasingly essential to ensuring that people across the country are able to learn and work remotely, that businesses can continue to serve customers, and that Americans stay connected and engaged with family and friends.

Charter’s advanced communications network will ensure our more than 29 million customers – including government offices, first responders, health care facilities, and businesses – across 41 states maintain the connectivity they rely on. The network is built to sustain maximum capacity during peak usage which is typically in the evenings, so a surge during the day would be well within the network’s capabilities to manage. Charter will continue to closely monitor this dynamic situation, and is well-prepared to continue delivering reliable connectivity. Charter has extensive business and workforce continuity plans in place that will be adjusted as needed to best serve all our customers and employees.
