Mrs. Eva Aldridge
Since 2006 I have been teaching 7th/8th grade English at SCAPA Bluegrass. I “fit in” at SCAPA because I like to teach my subject while incorporating the “arts” into my lesson plans. Students have identified poetry techniques in their favorite song lyrics, used visual art to depict excerpts from books, choreographed dances for book scenes, and even written and performed original scripts and music related to novels we have read in class.
I, too, have been a SCAPA parent. Both of my children participated in the program, so I am quite familiar with the demands of an arts education. My son was a piano major and later a voice major while my daughter danced as well as played piano and clarinet. I know what it’s like to juggle lessons, performances, homework, and family time!
Both my education and personal interests prepared me quite well to teach at SCAPA Bluegrass. I possess a B.A. in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in addition to both a M.A. in Teaching and an Endorsement in Gifted Education from Eastern Kentucky University. Since junior high school, I have expressed myself artistically in a variety of ways. I played the clarinet in band, took piano lessons, sang in my church and school choir, and wrote a column for my local newspaper. As an adult, I scrapbook, needlepoint, and write.
What a joy it is to be a SCAPA teacher!
