Mr. James Beers

Mr. Beers has been teaching elementary school since 1997. He has taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th as well as Science Lab before coming to SCAPA Bluegrass to teach Math and Kentucky History in 2005.

Mr. Beers has a B.S. in Outdoor Education from Taylor University, a Masters of Education from Milligan College and a Gifted and Talented endorsement from Eastern Kentucky University.

Mr. Beers has spent many summers teaching science and history camps through-out the Bluegrass. He was awarded the Teacher that Made a Difference award by FCPS and University of Kentucky. His has also been awards the Teacher in the Spotlight award on the FCPS website.

Mr. Beers spends his free time outdoors cycling, hiking, reading and drinking coffee.  He has regretted not continuing his music lessons as a child and now tortures his family with the ukulele and guitar on a regular basis. He also has had the privilege to participate in local theater through-out his years in Lexington.

He is married with two children. His wife is a professor of Philosophy at a local university and his children are students at SCAPA studying art and music.
