  • PLD Choral Ensembles

Last Thursday the PLD choral ensembles, Chamber, Concert, and Women’s Choirs, performed at our annual KMEA District Choral Assessment.  The groups had great success and represented PLD well!

All three groups achieved STRAIGHT DISTINGUISHED ratings from all the judges for their performances and sight singing!

We were all very proud of their presentations!

  • Regeneron Science Talent Search Winner

Our own Rachel Seevers represented the State of Kentucky over the last week in DC at the Regeneron Science Talent Search.  She was awarded 8th place and received a $60,000 award for her project developing a Virtual Winglet, which works by ejecting high-speed air at the leading edge of the underside of a plane’s wingtip to potentially improve the stability and efficiency of the aircraft.  Rachel also was recognized with the Seaborg Award which gave her the opportunity to speak on behalf of all the finalists at the closing night gala.  Rachel was one of only 40 finalists from across the nation chosen to compete in this prestigious competition.

Rachel’s picture and work are featured on the Society for Science and the Public website.
