High School Enrollment Period is Open
The district-wide period of enrollment for high schools is now open. Eighth grade students need to look at the information for their prospective high school and plan to schedule classes. Information is located on the Guidance page of our website as well as within the 8th grade Guidance Canvas course. Students with questions should speak to Mrs. Mattingly.
Memo from Principal Caudill
Happy Friday LTMS!
I want to recognize the tremendous week we’ve had at LTMS as we’ve launched our third quarter lessons and projects. Our teachers are excited to implement the projects and activities they’ve worked so hard during the summer months. My one and only wish is for our students and staff to return so we can ensure all students are progressing together. Hopefully, with the vaccination process happening and the holiday peak slowing down, we’ll see our return soon. As many of you know, our Board of Education has extended virtual learning through February 5th. We’ll be certain to keep everyone updated on these weekly decisions happening every Tuesday.
If you have experienced any communication delays over the past week and a half I want to apologize for the inconvenience. Like so many other agencies, teams, and groups in our community, the LTMS front office has been delayed to COVID-19 isolation and quarantine protocols. Fortunately, everyone is well and our daily business activities are up and running again.
Unfortunately, this unexpected situation has delayed the mailing of our student’s progress reports for quarter two. We are preparing all progress reports, recognitions, and personalized letters to be mailed to all families by next Friday. Again, thank you for your patience and understanding during this pandemic school year.
While reviewing your child’s progress report you may see the letter grade “I”. This letter grade signifies to you and your child, work still needs to be completed and submitted. Your child’s team of teachers and administrators have developed in-school opportunities and tutoring times to complete the missing tasks. Please reference the letter that is included in your progress report to begin the process of planning your credit recovery.
As always, I encourage you to speak with your child’s teachers, counselors, and our administrators to learn more about our student success plans at each grade level.
Graduated return to in-person learning
District leadership also announced that the return to in-person learning will be graduated. Rather than starting all students back on the same day, consideration will be given to students who have never been in their schools before and those who may need more time to learn routines.
FCPS COVID-19 In-Person Learning Matrix
District leaders have developed the Fayette County Public Schools COVID-19 In-Person Learning Matrix, which provides specific metrics outlining when students will be able to return to campus. The tool, which builds on the state's color-coded incidence rate map, includes five stages based on the average daily COVID-19 cases in Fayette County. The method also incorporates orders from the Governor, student and staff absences, isolations and quarantines, operations and support considerations, community vs. institutional spread, community trends and vaccine uptake.
