    Monday, October 25th - B  Day      It’s a great day to be a General!


    Interested in applying to GSA or Governor's School for the Arts? If you're a current sophomore or junior interested in applying for the visual arts, film & photography, or architecture & design pathways, we'll be having an informational meeting about the process next Wednesday, November 3rd. We'll discuss how to apply, portfolio preparation, and more! The meeting will take place in Room 133 after school until 5 PM. Please see the flyers in the hallway to join our Canvas course or see Ms. Baker in Room 133 for questions.


    Boys Basketball Freshmen tryouts have been changed to Thursday, October 28th from 7:00-9:00. All players need to have an up-to-date Physical in order to tryout.  If you have any questions see Coach Mendenhall in room 240.


    "The brand-new Philosophy Club will meet in room 132 on Tuesday Morning October 26th at 7:45 AM. Everyone is welcome to attend and help get this new club started."  


    Juniors & Seniors  - we need your help!  The state of Kentucky is at an all time low for blood donations.  The Senior Class will be hosting a Blood Drive here at Lafayette all day on Wednesday Oct. 27th.

    AP Exam Registration -The 2022 AP Exam registration for students currently enrolled in AP course(s) began October 1, 2021. Late registration fines begin Nov. 1st.     FCCLA will be meeting this Thursday from 3:30-4:30 in room 130.  Snacks will be provided by the members. 


    The Generals Book Club will meet Thursday morning 10/21 at 8:00am in the Library. All are welcome.

    BSU will have a meeting afterschool on Thursday in Ms. Lemmons Room 239.  All members are expected to attend; new members are encouraged.



    LHS is hosting Spanish Tutoring in Room 249 on Monday's from 3:30-4:30pm.  No need to sign up; simply show up and we'll be glad to help!


    Boys Basketball will have Varsity tryouts on October 15th from 3:45-6:00, and Freshmen tryouts on November 1st from 7:15-9:00. All players need to have an up to date Physical in order to tryout.

    PICTURE RE-TAKES: Senior and make up pictures are scheduled for November 18th and 19th in Beeler Auditorium. Seniors will go with their English class.Make ups/retakes are welcome second through fourth block each day. Lines will be shorter on Friday. Students must get permission from one of their teachers before heading to the auditorium.  For Seniors-This is a formal senior portrait (tux for guys, drape for girls) and Holifield Photography will provide the formal wear. For any senior that does not feel comfortable being photographed in tux/drape, you should come dressed in your own formal clothing. Guys will be required to wear a button up shirt and tie.

     Christian College Fair-Lexington Christian Academy, Oct. 25th, 6-8pm




    • The homecoming game is scheduled for Friday, October 22nd at 6:30 against Dunbar. The homecoming court will be presented at halftime. 
    • The homecoming DANCE has officially been moved to Saturday, October 23rd from 8-11 p.m. There will be both outdoor and indoor spaces for the event to accommodate everyone in attendance.
      • Tickets will go on sale on Monday, October 18th.
      • Guest contracts can be found in the front office or outside room 263 in science.
      • Contracts are due back by Monday, October 18th. 


    • Tickets will be sold Monday 10/18 - Friday 10/22
      • Sold during all 5 lunches at the front of the cafeteria
      • Sold before school in room 263 (science) until 8:10 a.m.
      • Sold after school in room 263 (science) until 3:45 p.m.
      • Tickets are $20 Monday through Thursday.
      • Tickets increase to $25 on Friday



    KENTUCKY GOVERNOR'S SCHOLARS APPLICATIONS-GSP Applications are open!  Information for Lafayette Students including future work sessions and deadlines can be found in the GSP section under Guidance on the Lafayette Website.  Make sure you sign up on the intent to apply form https://bit.ly/LHS_GSP_2022 so that you will receive all updates and information from Ms. FitzGerald. 


     The Boys Volleyball Fall League will start the week of October 25. Any boys interested in playing need to sign-up with Mr. Stegman in room 125 or on the team website prior to starting. All participants must have an up-to-date physical turned into Mr. Stegman to participate.
