Career & Technical Education

  • The FCPS Career and Technical Education (CTE) team coordinates all CTE programs throughout the district for grades 6-12, including Southside and Eastside technical centers and Locust Trace Agriscience Center. Our goal is to assist schools in providing students with skills necessary for a successful transition to postsecondary education or work and a desire for life-long learning in a global society. This involves serving as a liaison between the school and the business community, relating school curriculum to technical opportunities, and developing partnerships for schools and businesses and future employment possibilities.

We provide guidance, support, collaboration, and communication in these areas of postsecondary readiness:

    • Program and pathway alignment
    • Industry certifications and end of program assessments
    • Work-based learning and career exploration
    • Business engagement and program advisory boards
    • Technical dual credit
    • Professional learning with a CTE focus
    • Student organizations such as FFA (agriculture); Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA); Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA); HOSA Future Health Professionals; Educators Rising; DECA; Technology Student Association (TSA); and SkillsUSA
