My name is Gloria C. Arteaga-Hinton and I am delighted to be your child’s Spanish Arts and Culture teacher.  I am originally from Colombia and came to Lexington 20 years ago.

Me llamo Gloria C. Arteaga-Hinton y estoy muy contenta de ser la maestra de Arte y Cultura .   Yo nací en Colombia y llegué a la bella ciudad de Lexington hace aproximadamente 20 años.

I have worked with Arts and Humanities at Maxwell for about 10 years.  We are going to have an exciting year of learning about Arts and Spanish through Hispanic Culture that involved art, songs, drama, dance, literature, history, traditions, technology and more.

Yo he sido la maestra de Arte y Humanidades en Maxwell por alrededor de 10 años. Vamos a tener un emocionante año aprendiendo sobre arte y español a través de la cultura hispana la cual involucre no solo arte sino también canciones, bailes, drama, literatura, historia, tradiciones, tecnología y más.

Also through Art, we are going to work in developing your child's motor skills that are very important to everyday living.  Building fine motor skills through tearing and/or snipping paper, painting, pounding clay, etc.  In addition to the many other benefits of art activities, art helps to develop fine motor skills by increasing muscle strength, dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.

También a través del arte, vamos a trabajar en el desarrollo de las habilidades motoras de su hijo/hija que son muy importantes para la vida cotidiana. Además de los muchos otros beneficios de las actividades artísticas, el arte ayuda a desarrollar habilidades motrices finas al aumentar la fuerza muscular, la destreza y la coordinación mano-ojo.

About Spanish- learning a foreign language is much more than just words and rules.  Communication, or communicating in Spanish, will be at the heart of our class as children begin to understand how art and culture are part of this language; I will teach your child Spanish through art and culture.

Aprender español es mucho más que palabras y reglas. La comunicación, o  comunicarse en español estará lo primordial de nuestra clase cuando los niños empiecen a entender cómo el arte y la cultura son parte de este lenguaje; Voy a enseñar a su hijo/hija español a través del arte y la cultura.
