Superintendent’s welcome

Stu SilbermanDear Families:

Welcome back to school! It's great to see our students, families and employees back on campus after the summer break. The start of a new school year always fills me with excitement because it brings the promise of new friends, new learning opportunities and new accomplishments. Fayette County is a district on the move, and the sky is the limit!

Our teachers, administrators and staff have worked hard over the summer to prepare for the 2007-2008 school year, exploring new ways of reaching all students, developing engaging lessons and upgrading school facilities. We want every day of school to be a positive learning experience for every student, and we are grateful to have you as a part of the Fayette County Public Schools.

Families know their children better than anyone. You are vital partners for our teachers and schools, and I want to personally thank you for all you do at home to support your children. When families are involved in education, student attendance, behavior and achievement soar. Family involvement takes many forms, and we look forward to working with you this year to develop strong ties. We share a common goal of helping our kids achieve excellence.

Together with our families, dedicated employees, business and faith leaders, and other community supporters, we will make this a great school year because "It's About Kids!"
