FCPS Curriculum Framework on SharePoint

Getting to the Curriculum Framework on SharePoint

If you have never visited our SharePoint site, please read the information on this page before attempting to follow the link below!

Link: Curriculum Framework on the FCPS Sharepoint server.

TECHNICAL ISSUES: Accessing the Fayette County Curriculum Framework SharePoint site from another Kentucky public school district, or from the Kentucky Department of Education.

The Curriculum Framework is open to everyone with a network account from some district or office under the KETS system of Kentucky, including all public school districts and state public education employees. This includes students in districts supporting student logins.

Inside your own district or KETS wide area network:

  • You must be logged into the computer you're using, with your own network username and password.
  • You must have the following settings in your browser (in Internet Explorer, find these in "Tools/Internet Options/Connections/LAN settings"):
    • Bypass proxy for local addresses
    • Exception list must include "sharepoint.fcps.net" (in IE, found using the "Advanced" button"- see image)

These are probably not automatically set for you, so you will need to set them by hand. If you don't know what this means, contact your technology support office or person, and show him/her this page.

From home or other location outside the KETS network (a hotel, a coffee shop with wi-fi, etc.):

  • No exceptions need be set.You will be prompted to log in. Use "domain\username" (note - that's a backslash!) and your normal network password. For example, Anderson County teachers and staff would use "anderson\username." This is the same as Webmail.
  • Once logged in, everything should work exactly as it does inside your district WAN

Browser support:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer is preferred.
  • Mozilla-based browsers (Firefox, Netscape, Mozilla) work OK, but do not support site design and management tasks.
  • The AOL browser does not work. If you are an AOL user, start your Internet service, then use a different browser.
  • No other browsers have been tested.

If you can get into the Curriculum Framework, but not somewhere else in Fayette County's SharePoint system (you are confronted with a login which you can't get past):

  • Web pages, document libraries, etc.: You do not have rights. That is, the manager of the site has not awarded you the rights to see that item. If you cancel the login, you'll be forwarded to a page where you can request access. If you fill out that page, submit, and do not hear back within 24 hours, contact jeffrey.jones@fayette.kyschools.us for help. Whether you will be awarded those rights is up to the manager of that site or resource.
  • Documents (Word, Excel spreadsheets, etc.): You must be using a compatible version of Microsoft Office (OpenOffice will work in most cases).
    • If you're home (see "From home..." above), you will be prompted for another login for each document you open. The syntax is the same as it is at the top of this page.
    • Most such documents in Fayette County were created using Microsoft Office 2003. If you click a document link and it fails to open, right-click on the link and "Save target as..." to save on your computer. If it will not open there, the problem is compatibility of document format.
    • In almost all cases, problems with documents have nothing to do with SharePoint.
