I always tell my classes to make their work "interesting and amazing." Before this happens, I try to stir their imaginations with fun visuals or sometimes an outlandish idea that makes them jump out of the gate like a racehorse.

Young artists should ponder, create, share and grow from their experiences. As a teacher, I am affected by student art and never stop learning from what I see each time! It is especially exciting to hear from families that tell me how wonderful a particular piece of art is that their child brought home.

Kids' creativity in elementary school will help them be successful life-long learners.
