Staff Spotlight: Anthony Jackson Sr.

Paraeducator, Meadowthorpe Elementary

An old African proverb says “It takes a village to raise a child.” In the village of Meadowthorpe Elementary, we are not only busy holding small hands, tying shoes and giving hugs and high fives, we are also helping our students pursue proficiency.

A typical day at Meadowthorpe has me at all ends of the building. I spend most of my day with an energetic fifth-grader with special needs, but sometimes my expertise is needed in other areas. Some might say they can see my superhero cape flapping behind me down the hallway.

Meadowthorpe has a top-notch after-school program called “Post Time,” which I direct. It gives students an opportunity to take advantage of quiet homework time, technology and physical exercise in the gym or outdoors, play board games, do arts and crafts, and much more. With the support of an amazing staff, from 2:45 to 6 p.m., Post Time is the place to be!
