“'Exemplary Learning: No Excuses, No Exceptions.' What a wonderful goal to live by, striving to see that each and every student receives the very best and to make sure that each student receives the skills needed to be successful in all areas of life.
"To engage students, it is vital that a teacher enjoys what he or she is doing. When a teacher has a passion for a subject, no matter the topic, and when lessons are designed where the teacher is having fun, the students will have fun and be engaged and will learn at high levels.
"For students to excel, it is also important the students know that the teacher cares about them and their learning. A teacher should have high expectations, see the best in each student and see each student as a good student and person.
"In World Civilization, the goal is for students to understand the relevance of the past to the present and its ramifications for the future. I cannot imagine a more rewarding profession than being an educator. Showing students how the past connects to today and how what is happening today determines the future, seeing their eyes brighten with wonder and interest -- and seeing their successes and growth – priceless!"
