Administrative assistant, Leestown Middle School

"Often I am the first person a visitor sees upon entering the building or the first voice an individual hears when calling the school. One of the most important parts of my job is to make sure that everyone feels welcome, so I answer the phone with a warm tone and greet each person with a smile. 

"I’m required to wear many hats and to be a good support system for our students, parents, staff and administrators. I answer phones, open doors, do the payroll, schedule meetings, order supplies and always try to be a good listener.

"Leestown has become a second home to me, and a lot of our students are being brought up in the same neighborhoods that I’ve grown up in. That inspires me to work diligently and conscientiously in order to give more back to my community."
