"I truly believe every child can learn and that all children deserve a quality, equitable education. To me, education begins with building positive relationships. It is just as important for a teacher to learn to relate and appreciate all of her students as it is for her to hone her skills in the subject she teaches.
"Our society, with its growing diversity, requires public school teachers to become increasingly dynamic in their communications and teaching strategies. I want to improve my teaching skills in order to better serve my students. I also want to improve my skills in motivating students to learn, strategies addressing diverse learners and skills related to helping teachers become more effective.
"Like me, most teachers want to reach all of their students. We just need the right tools, the right support and the right attitude to get it done. To most it may seem like a losing battle, but I believe it is worth the fight. I believe we can teach our children."
