“As a social studies teacher, my goal is to spark interest and expand my students’ knowledge of our nation’s past. In this age of instant information and technology, students tend to live in the present. Therefore, at times teaching history can be a challenge. To meet this challenge, lessons must be creative and engaging. Once students are motivated to reflect upon the importance of the past and make those connections to their own lives, they are taking the first steps toward becoming well-informed and responsible citizens.”
