Math Problem Solving — Learn effective strategies for teaching problem solving skills to upper elementary students with disabilities.

Universal Design — These resources provide general information on Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Specific applications of UDL are also discussed. Contains toolkits and video clips.

Special Education

The Department of Special Education is a team of professionals that are dedicated to providing services for students that are identified as special education students and teachers teaching those students. This team is capable of addressing a variety of issues and needs for students and teachers.

The mission of the Department of Special Education, dedicated to all children and youth, including those with special needs, is to educate students in appropriate learning environments. Through specially designed instruction the students will successfully demonstrate to their fullest, the knowledge and skills essential for life long learning, social well-being, and active, responsible citizenship.

The SDI (Specially Designed Instruction) Manual and Glossary are now available on the web. This is a teachers tool for specially designed instruction.

Special Education Parent Resource Center
The Parent Resource Center is sponsored by the Department of Special Education. Caring parents and professionals that can help parents with their needs and their students' needs staff it.

Whom to ask
When working with special needs students, teachers, staff, and parents often have questions that need to be answered. Here is a listing of the Resource Specialist and their areas of expertise and how you can contact then concerning a student.
