Our middle school is part of the Tates Creek complex, which serves southeast Fayette County. The school opened in 1963 as a junior high and became a middle school before the 1990-1991 school year.
All students take P.E. and a foreign language, rotating every other day, and our performing arts department features chorus, speech and drama. Tates Creek is proud to host a trash-can percussion ensemble called CHAOS and also boasts a vibrant club sports program, including lacrosse.
Tates Creek is becoming a green school and is working with the city to implement an environmental program. We have a rain garden on campus, and our students can participate in a summer environmental awareness program.

What makes our school special
Tates Creek is the first middle school in Kentucky to be approved for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. This schoolwide program provides a framework of academic challenge that encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world, and to become critical and reflective thinkers.
