SCAPA at Bluegrass was established in 1987 to provide students in grades 4-8 an opportunity enhance their abilities in the fine arts in a setting that emphasizes the arts while providing a solid academic foundation. Students who are accepted into the program have a special talent or interest in the arts and receive instruction in visual arts, band, strings, voice, piano, ballet, contemporary dance, drama and creative writing in addition to the state's core academic curriculum. Learning is further enhanced by participation in performances throughout the year, as well as field trips and opportunities to meet and talk with fellow artists.
Eligibility requires a minimum of three pieces of supporting documentation. All students who have a complete application file which includes the application, at least one recommendation and parent questionnaire, are scheduled for an audition in the arts area of their choosing. Placements are then made according to space availability at the school and rank order by audition results in each arts area.
Online application (The window is Aug. 15 to Oct. 7 for the following school year.) Questions: 381-4741
