Leestown opened as an elementary school in 1957. Ten years later, it became a junior high school for grades 7-9. In 1990, it transitioned to the middle school format, serving grades 6-8. We are proud to be the home of the BMW program, a partnership between First Baptist Church Bracktown and the Fayette County Public Schools, which provides academic guidance and experiences for African-American boys. Although the program began at Leestown, we now serve students in five middle schools and all the county high schools. Upon graduation, students successfully completing the BMW program will have the opportunity to earn a full-tuition scholarship to one of 10 partner universities.
