Our motto is "Believe, Achieve, Succeed," and our students move on to be standouts in the fields of education, medicine, law and commerce. We have a strong family atmosphere that encourages each student not only to excel in academics, but also to grow socially and emotionally.

Leestown opened as an elementary school in 1957. Ten years later, it became a junior high school for grades 7-9. In 1990, it transitioned to the middle school format, serving grades 6-8.

The building underwent a three-year renovation that was completed in October 2011.

What makes our school special

Leestown is proud to host the BMW program (Black Males Working Academy), a partnership between First Baptist Church Bracktown and the Fayette County Public Schools that provides academic guidance and enrichment experiences for African-American boys. We now serve students in five middle schools and all the county high schools. Upon graduation, students who successfully completed the BMW program have the opportunity to earn a full-tuition scholarship to one of 10 partner universities.

Leestown also has a pre-engineering track that serves as a feeder system for Lafayette High School. In addition, each classroom at Leestown is equipped with a SMART Board, an Elmo digital visual presenter and an LCD projector in the ceiling.
