Our school was named for Earl Yates, who had been a member of the Fayette County Board of Education. On the north side of Lexington, Yates Elementary sits on more than 12 acres of land with playgrounds for primary and intermediate students as well as a walking track.

The school was built in 1954, renovated in 1984, and repainted in 2008. The latest renovations were completed in October 2011.

What makes our school special

The entire staff at Yates works incredibly hard to ensure that our students get a world-class education. Collaboration, communication, and creativity are 21st century skills that we strive to engage in as Wildcats. Teaching children to be creative thinkers while collaborating with peers and communicating their ideas to others will be important skills to have as future leaders. Our school is committed to improving student achievement and offers many services to ensure that every single child experiences success.
