Southern Elementary opened in August 1969 and was renovated in 2001. We celebrate the success of all children. Our mascot is Splash the Dolphin, and we proudly “Splash for success.”

We offer a full academic program that includes special area classes such as art, music, writing, computer lab, science lab and a mobile laptop lab.

What makes our school special

We’re a diverse school with a solid teaching staff and actively involved parent and community support. Our focus on instructing one student at a time has resulted in constantly improving academic achievement.

Beyond the core academic subjects, Southern is committed to providing a rich arts education program. We are proud to offer our students the opportunity to use the MIE keyboard lab. We also have a fifth-grade performing troupe called Stix that wows audiences with drumming expertise. And our third, fourth- and fifth-graders can perform with the “Sounds” group, which combines movement and music.
