Sandersville Elementary, one of the district’s newer schools, is named in honor of the area where the school is located and the former thriving cotton-woolen mill community of Sandersville, which was vital to Lexington's development. The $17.5 million school replaced Linlee Elementary, which closed in the spring of 2008.

Our building is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, with two fully equipped computer labs and a mini-lab in each classroom.

Our students also participate in community service activities such as God’s Pantry, Pennies for Patients, Toys for Tots and an annual blood drive.

What makes our school special

We believe that arts education is a fundamental part of a well-rounded school experience. Every student at Sandersville has a chance to perform in a monthly music showcase; some kids show off their talent with a solo, and others through instruments. Sandersville also has a traveling chorus that performs throughout the community. We also enhance kids' experience by bringing visiting artists or performers to campus.

Sandersville partners with Georgetown College on a project-based learning program in which each grade level studies a different region of Kentucky. Our students visit the areas to learn about their economy, tourist attractions, commerce and community, and complete oral and written assignments as part of this exciting venture.
