The original Picadome School was a one-room schoolhouse built in 1889 on Harrodsburg Road. In 1912, “Little” Picadome School was built on the property where the current building stands.
The name “Picadome” was created by using the first two letters of four names: PI from former state Superintendent Pickett; CA from M.A. Cassidy, the county superintendent; DO was added for Douglass and ME for Meyers, two former school district trustees.
The current school was rebuilt in 1976 and renovated during the 2000-2001 school year.
