Our school is named for James Lane Allen, one of Kentucky's foremost authors. It was constructed on 15 acres of land and opened in August 1958. Throughout its history, our school has always been a focal point of the community. In a spirit of cooperation, the PTA works closely with the faculty and staff as a vital part of our school.

Our school is an integral part of Lexington’s diverse community. The mission of James Lane Allen is that we will develop proficient learners and successful citizens through high expectations in a positive, caring environment. We strive to make sure that all students are given the opportunity to achieve at high levels and are provided the necessary support through a variety of state and local grants.
