Opened in 1963, our school was named for Madeline McDowell Breckinridge, a well-known philanthropist and a great-great granddaughter of statesman Henry Clay. The original building had 16 classrooms. In 1970, 16 more classrooms were added to meet increasing enrollment needs. Peak enrollment was reached in 1972 with more than 900 students.
