The original Booker T. Washington Elementary School was built in 1916, and today is the site of the Black and Williams Neighborhood Center. In 2005, Booker T. Washington Elementary and The Academy at Lexington were merged to form Booker T. Washington Academy. The school consists of two buildings. The primary center, at 707 Howard St., serves students in Early Start, kindergarten and first and second grades. The Intermediate Center, at 475 Price Road, serves grades 3-5.
