Department of Physical Support ServicesPhysical Support Services has the responsibility of facilities management, assisting in facilities planning, and in monitoring the design and construction of major new building construction, renovation projects, site improvements and energy management for the district. Construction manager William Wallace assists in the identification of current and future design requirements and coordinates with administrators, architects, government agencies, trades people, technicians, and vendors to meet those requirements. He provides technical assistance and consultation to the Director and associate directors, relative to planning, construction and renovation of school facilities, properties and equipment. Food ServiceFood Service is a self-supporting division that is responsible for providing nutritionally balanced, low cost or free meals to students each school day. Food Service oversees district participation in the National School Lunch and Breakfast programs, and meeting the requirements of those programs. (Visit Food Service) MaintenanceThe division of Maintenance has the responsibility of maintaining district facilities in a manner that assures a safe, healthy and secure learning and working environment for students, faculty, staff and community members. Work is prioritized with a focus on supporting student achievement. The division maintains over 5 million square feet of floor space in 63 separate facilities. We seek out innovative and energy efficient processes and are focused on the future. OperationsThe Division of Plant Operations is a service-oriented organization whose mission is to provide facility support to all FCPS by ensuring a clean, safe and healthy environment for all students, faculty and the community. Plant Operations has a total of 34 staff members that are responsible for over 657 acres of grounds maintenance for FCPS. This includes but is not limited to: mowing of 600 plus acres; maintenance and installation of all fencing (approximately 24 miles); repair and maintenance of all asphalt surfaces (433,835 square yards); athletic field maintenance (65 facilities); training of the district custodial staff (179 full time and 22 part time); maintenance and repair of all concrete surfaces (32 miles); testing and procurement of proper custodial supplies and equipment to be used in the facilities; maintenance, repair and installation of over 300 pieces of playground equipment; monitoring the Integrated Pest Management program for FCPS; maintenance of catch basins and all drainage areas; and snow removal. Risk Management and SafetyRisk Management and Safety's mission is to facilitate the educational process by minimizing risk and maximizing safety in district operations. The Division provides property and liability insurance services (Certificates, Claims, Loss Control and Workers' Compensation) and is responsible for OSHA and EPA Compliance. (Visit Risk Management and Safety) TransportationTransportation has the responsibility of providing safe and efficient transport services from home to school and back each school day. Transportation also provides safe and efficient transport for district student activity trips. (Visit Transportation) Logistical ServicesLogistical Services has the responsibility to receive, inspect and deliver to district schools and offices, US and inter-departmental mail and small parcels, heavy equipment, furniture and supplies ordered in bulk. Logistical Services also makes readily available for district special activities and events, equipment on loan. Logistical Services assists Financial Services in the fixed asset property accountability process in accordance the GASB 34 requirements.
