Special Ed Family Resources

We provide a place where families of children with special needs can receive help with their issues and concerns. You can find information on various topics related to physical, mental, and intellectual disabilities. We will also update this webpage regularly with coming events, webinars, and video series to help you navigate different aspects of special education. This collection of online resources aims to serve as a one-stop shop for your family with assistance from Fayette County Public Schools, the state of Kentucky, and beyond.

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

In 1987, President Reagan proclaimed March as National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month to highlight the potential of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to work, contribute, and enjoy typical lives. Please use the hashtags #DDAM or #AWorldofOpportunities to promote and raise awareness and wear orange to show support!

Down Syndrome

March 21 is  World Down Syndrome Day, which the United Nations has observed since 2012. Locally, the Down Syndrome Association of Central Kentucky hosts many events for families and supports an inclusive environment.

Believe it or not, socks help get people talking! Just choose a pair that will be noticed -- mismatched socks or your craziest and most colorful pair! Get your friends, classmates, and colleagues to join in or connect via social media using the hashtag #LotsOfSocks.
