Robotics teams excel in regional RCX; four advance to state

Four robotics teams from Fayette County Public Schools will advance to the 2013 STLP RCX state competition March 28 at Rupp Arena. They all performed well in the Robo Challenge Xtreme regional contest March 2 at Georgetown College.
Elementary runner-up
- RoboPatriots from Veterans Park – Will Baumann, Seth Bullock, Alan Liao, Gabe Francis, Kennedy Gayheart, Sophie Kluesner and Egor Vinogradov (coached by Sara McDonie)
Elementary fourth-place
- Pic-Robo Dogs from Picadome – Demetrius Cherry, Robert Lee, Joshua Montgomery and Dallas Smith (coached by William Moberley)
Middle school runner-up
- MMS 3 from Morton – Demetrius Grasso and Sarthak Rijal (coached by Gary DeBorde)
Middle school fourth-place
- General Leeagle from Jessie Clark – Jonathan Browning, Tyler Ferry, Katya Kovatsenko, Sebastian Rojas and Hossein Zolfagheri (coached by Mark Evans)
RCX expands students’ knowledge of math and science through activities that strengthen teamwork, communication, computer and problem-solving skills. The 2013 contest theme is “Farmers Provide Food and Fuel to the World.”
