Back-to-School Rallies set for Aug. 4

The YMCA of Central Kentucky will host the seventh annual Ready, Set, Go! Lexington Neighborhood Back-to-School Rallies on Saturday Aug. 4. 

 

The event will provide 8,000 primary, elementary, middle and high school students with free backpacks and school supplies. Each neighborhood site will distribute supplies for all grade levels and offer kids’ activities, resource booths, entertainment, food, speakers and giveaways.   

Registration for the free supplies will run from 9 to 11 a.m. at each site, and backpacks will be distributed at noon. Students must be with a parent or guardian to receive supplies. Kentucky Utilities contributed the backpacks, and the YMCA and multiple community partners donated the contents.

  • Primary kit (K-2) – washable markers (set of 8), crayons (24 count), pocket folders, blunt-tip scissors, composition notebook, pencil top erasers, No. 2 pencils and glue sticks
  • Elementary kit (grades 3-5) – No. 2 pencils, crayons (24 count), colored pencils (set of 12), crayons (24 count), scissors, pocket folders, two composition notebooks, pencil top erasers, washable glue and glue sticks 
  • Middle/high school kit – No. 2 pencils, medium-point blue pen, medium-point black pen, highlighter with clip, pocket folders, 1½-inch three-ring binder, two-pack filler paper 

Additional supplies will be given away as door prizes. You must be present to win.
