The Kentucky Music Educators Association has selected dozens of students for its 2012 honor choirs, which will perform at the Kentucky Center for the Arts in Louisville during the association’s state conference. Their concert begins at 5:15 p.m. Thursday Feb. 9 in Whitney Hall.

The Kentucky Junior High Chorus is composed of seventh-, eighth- and ninth-graders, and the Kentucky Children’s Choir is made up of fifth- and sixth-graders. Congratulations to these participants from Fayette County Public Schools.

All-state mixed chorus (SATB*):

• Morton Middle School: Hanna Martin, Shannon Calkins, Lauren Johns, Lauren Holland and Harrison Carter.
• SCAPA at Bluegrass: Herman Bratcher, Danea Cloyd, Katie Damron, Brennan Burke, Carey Bingham, Allison Langdorf (featured soloist), Quentin Prewitt and Sydney Mullins.
• Tates Creek Middle: Caleb Nelson and Spencer Horman.

All-state treble chorus (SSA*):

• Beaumont Middle School: Audra Jones.
• Tates Creek Middle: Alexis Wells, Olivia Antigua and Amelia Hurt.

All-state children’s choir:

• Beaumont Middle: Madison Alexander, Haley Searcy, Alexander Stern and Alexis Warren.
• Glendover Elementary: Lauren Adams, Elizabeth Bowling, Isabella Ellis, Kieran Ingram, Brooke Jacobs, Kyrsten Myrup, Kate Myrup and Brinna Voss.
• Morton Middle: Ashbrook Averitt, Caroline Bennett, Madison Brown, Sarah Byrd, McKenna Helfenberger, Abigail Magoola, Laura Mendenhall, Sarah Morgan, Maia Taffe and Emily Trammell.
