Ashland, Cassidy, Rosa Parks and Veterans Park elementaries have received statewide “honorable mention” citing the positive working conditions, school safety and student achievement in their buildings.

They were selected based on data from the Teaching, Empowering, Leading and Learning (TELL) Kentucky survey, which was administered to all public school teachers and principals in March.

The top 10 schools in the Winners’ Circle received a certificate, plaque and banner at the 17th annual Safe Schools, Successful Students conference in Louisville. The winners and 39 honorable mentions will be used as examples of best practices for other schools across the state.

The TELL Kentucky survey was given in the spring by the New Teacher Center, a national nonprofit dedicated to improving student learning by accelerating the effectiveness of teachers and school leaders. Kentucky set a first-time record for response rate, with 80 percent participation.
