Winburn Middle School won its division in the Fayette County Academic League’s annual quick-recall tournament, and Beaumont Middle was runner-up.

The 12 participating teams were divided into two brackets for the Dec. 10 competition, which used a double-elimination format. The gold division consisted of Winburn, Lexington Traditional Magnet School, Edythe J. Hayes, Beaumont, Jessie Clark and Bryan Station Middle. The silver division included Crawford, Morton, Southern Middle and three private schools.

On Winburn's winning team were Kathleen Yang, Angelina Shi, Theo Livas, Thirushan Wingnakumar, Ronit Kar, Ben Xie, Thomas Kenny, Annie Griffith, Jacob Cottrell, Jacob Ferguson, Hye Jee Kim, Connie Cui, Eric Cao, Ananth Miller-Murthy, Zsombor Gal and David Ma.

Beaumont's group included George Simpson, Kyra Seevers, Eric Zhang, Caroline Wright, Chris Duncan, Kevin Hutcheson, Connor Krolak, Maggie Cook-Allen, Abigail Williams and Gwen Blair.
