Henry Clay golfers runner-up in 7th Region

The girls’ golf team at Henry Clay High School was runner-up in the 7th Region tournament this week at Connemara in Nicholasville.

The Blue Devils finished two strokes behind the winners from Franklin County. Junior Allison Leigeb shot an 86 to lead Henry Clay, followed by sophomore Alison Miller’s 89, eighth-grader Sara Bidarian’s 92, sophomore Meg Mills’ 93 and eighth-grader Leslie Ginter’s 95.

In the team results, Lafayette finished sixth in the field of 15, Paul Laurence Dunbar was eighth, and Tates Creek High was 14th.  Among other top-scoring individuals, Lafayette’s Kelli Crawford shot an 86 and Lizzie Kearney an 87.

Henry Clay advances to the state tournament Oct. 7-8 at Bowling Green Country Club.
