Dunbar artist tops in Farm to School contest

Kristian Little, a student at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School and Locust Trace AgriScience Farm, was a statewide winner in this fall’s Kentucky Farm to School art week contest.

 

Students across the Commonwealth submitted artwork for this inaugural competition. The theme was “Let’s grow healthy the Kentucky Proud way!” Kristian and other first-place winners in each division received $50, runners-up got $30, and third-place entries took home $20 apiece.

Farm to School promotes healthy meals in cafeterias, improved student nutrition and local agriculture education opportunities. A main goal is to help youngsters understand where their food comes from and how their choices affect their health, environment and community.
